Privacy Policy

Everlune is built on a simple promise: your reading life is yours. Everlune is a private, offline reading tracker. It has no user accounts and no servers of our own, and it does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information.

The short version: Everlune collects no personal data. Everything you add — your books, ratings, reviews, notes, quotes, moods, and reading sessions — is stored only on your device. We can't see it, because it never leaves your phone.

Information we collect

None. We do not collect personal data. Everlune has no sign-up, no login, and no analytics, advertising, or tracking software. We do not use cookies or advertising identifiers, and we do not build any profile of you.

Information you create, stored on your device

When you use Everlune, the content you create — including your library and shelves, reading progress and sessions, ratings, reviews, moods, spice levels, tropes, tags, quotes, goals, and preferences — is saved in a private database on your device. This data stays on your device unless you choose to export or share it.

Camera

If you scan a book's barcode, Everlune uses your camera solely to read the barcode on-device. Camera images are processed locally, are never stored by Everlune, and are never uploaded or transmitted anywhere.

Face ID & passcode

If you enable app lock, authentication is handled entirely by iOS on your device. Everlune never receives or stores your biometric data or passcode.

Book cover images

To show a cover for a book, Everlune may request a cover image from the Open Library service (operated by the Internet Archive) using the book's ISBN. This is a standard image request that, like any web request, includes your device's IP address and the requested ISBN. No account information or personal identifiers are attached, and the request is made only to display the cover. If a cover isn't available, Everlune shows a generated placeholder instead. You can learn more in the Internet Archive's privacy policy. This is the only network request Everlune makes.

Widgets & Live Activities

Everlune's Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets and the reading-session Live Activity (Dynamic Island) read your current-book information from a private, on-device app group container. This information is used only to display those widgets on your own device and is never transmitted.

Backups

Because your data lives on your device, it may be included in the encrypted backups you make through Apple (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), according to your iOS settings. Those backups are controlled by Apple and your device settings, not by Everlune. You can also export your library from within the app at any time.

Sharing & exporting

Everlune lets you export your library and share things like quote cards and your "Year in Stars." These actions happen only when you initiate them, using the standard iOS share sheet, and you choose where anything goes.

Third parties

Everlune contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The only external service it contacts is the Open Library cover-image service described above.

Children's privacy

Everlune is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — because it does not collect personal information at all.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this address. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
